Next time your child or nephew starts to act liked a spoiled kid because he wants to upgrade from PS2 to PS3, show him this picture. I'll do the same once the M10 is launched. (click on picture for high res) Leica M8 with 35mm Lux Asph at F2.8, 1/500, ISO320

Laxmi Road is the main market street of Pune. Sellers are everywhere, even on the ground of the road and you wonder how they manage not to be crushed by a car of rickshaw. It is especially crowded late in the evening as the temperature starts to cool off. One by one, lights are switched on at the stalls and the sensation of chaos in the night grows each mintue. It is probably time to head off home in a rickshaw. The wild ride is another story .... (click on pictures for high res) All pictures taken with Leica M8...

A lot of Indians do not have running water in their house. So they'll head to the public tap to fill a few jerry cans to bring back home. Evidently, most of the clothes and dish washing happens in the street. As for the daily shower, some will hide behind a small wall while others share their great pleasure to be rubbed in the back with passer-bys. I never knew how big was pune. It always looked like a small city to me, even though some people told me numbers as extravagant as 7 millions people. Yet today, when we climbed on Parvati Hill and got a 360 view on the city, it did indeed look like a large metropolis. On top of that hill stand a few temples and it seems a popular destination of worshippers and lovers. The moment was peaceful as few people made it up there in the strong afternoon heat. Obviously, at soon as we got back to the bottom, the crazyness...

One more week in Pune and then we will travel North to Delhi. Good because I am in need of new horizons and start to be out of stories to tell. Therefore, today's series is a bit more abstract than usually. I tried to play with the early morning sun rays and warm colors. As I mentioned before, it is pretty hard to walk down an Indian street without taking any portraits. Many people want their portrait taken and sometimes you have to shoot the whole family before they let you go. I feel I am becoming a street portraitist. Daughters, brothers, or mothers, I don't really know who is who, but they surely know how to pose in front of the camera.  (click on pictures for high res) Leica M8 with 35mm Summilux Asph

Let me first apologize to this brave man. He invited me to have a coffee in front of his house, but I could never pronounce his name and he spoke no English. I therefore elected to call him Marcel, as wink  to his tank top (which translates to "Marcel" in French). Marcel lives in a very humble neighbourhood. Yet after I took a few pictures of him, he shouted towards his house and a kid brought ... a laptop. He wanted to have copies of my pictures. Sometimes appearances mislead. The pictures below were taken in Marcel's street, a glimpse...
