When shooting candid portraits in the streets, I often position myself and wait for my subject to make eye contact with me. This is my “decisive moment”, that 1/9th of a second where a stranger is caught off guard and let’s you see his state of soul.
The moment after, it’s all gone. Smiles, fear, shyness, indifference … you already interfered in his world. (click on a picture for high res)
