Let’s travel today to Madrid to discover the favorite shot of my good friend Daniel Sanchez Alonso. A classic European picture with a feel of the 50’s, yet taken in May while we were shooting together. Madrid is a great place for street photography, especially when you venture in some less known neighborhoods.
Leica M9 with 35mm Asph Lux 35 a 1.4, 1/750, ISO 160.
This is what Daniel wrote about it :
This picture reminds me the kind of picture I was taking more than 10 years ago as I am always on the search for this kind of sponateanous scene wherever the city I am in. I saw the scene unfold yet I wasn’t as close as I wished. Still, I took the picture because it is very specific to the old Madrid and the characters of its streets. There are still men there that will spend most of their day at the bar which are the neighbourhood’s main social meeting point. In some ways, it also reminds the first street photographers I was admirative of, that is Cartier-Bresson and Doisneau. Finally, I always loved the decisive moment kind of street photography where everything happens in a split second and you feel absorbed in the action.
Thank you Daniel, y un abrazo !
