If you fly with Thai Airways this month, you will discover my latest reportage on the inflight magazine, Sawasdee. It is called "Lake of dreams" and consist of a gallery of images taken in October around Lake Geneva. Unusually, I only shot in B&W since I thought it fitted well the mood of Autumn around the lake. All the pictures were taken with the Leica X1 which proved an amazing camera for this kind of photography. And by the way, all pictures are street photographs, though maybe a bit more contemplative than what I usually do. Unluckily, the December digital...

Let's discover this week the Sho(r)t story of this picture taken by Danie Knoester in a South African township.   Dirty Hands - Leica M9 with 50mm Summilux   What is the Sho(r)t Story?   I have been using a Leica M9 for about 18 months now and it is one of the greatest tools I have yet to use photographing! How-ever, in September I was held-up at gun-point and the three robbers took my WHOLE Leica kid! Camera and 2 Summilux lenses! May-be it was a good thing, cause up to then I was almost obsessing in making every...

Beauty certainly helps to resist arrests. At least half way.  Note that this is exactly the kind of picture that one could strongly regret to have taken. Had I been spotted by the cop, I could have gotten into trouble. Yet, I could not resist. Also, this picture was taken by my Nokia N8 smartphone. I did not take any camera along since I was working. With its 12 mpx, the N8 is still the best camera phone out there apart from the new 808 Pureview. Nokia N8 at 1/180, ISO100, 16:9 format
