... taken with the Nokia N8 and Molome ;) I took many shots today of the Taj Mahal with my Leica but somehow I like a lot this one. I have been experimenting with Molome (a Symbian type of Instagram) during our Radjasthan trip, I'll write an article about it at some point. And don't worry, I'll post a full series on the Taj Mahal tomorrow !  Nokia N8 - Molome software

In the middle of two mountains lays an ancient temple. The owners of the place are hundreds of small monkeys that creep on its structures and surrounding trees. Men like to visit the place and enjoy the refreshing pool that borders the temple. After a while observing them and the monkeys, one might leave with the feeling that Darwin could have actually been wrong. Amber fort is one the most visited places of Rajasthan as thousands flow everyday to the fortress. Yet below the fort, stands the little town of Amber, once the capital of Kings. And surprisingly, almost no tourists make it there and leave locals busy with their daily whereabouts surrounded by ruins of ancient palaces. So we made it to the capital of Rajasthan; Jaipur. It is also referred to as "The Pink City" since Maharadja Sawai Ram Singh had it all painted pink in 1876 to welcome the Prince of Wales on an official visit. Crazy times. I just had an hour to shoot today, so here are is a series of unconnected "first impressions" (click on pictures for high res) All pictures with Leica M9 and 35mm Lux Asph, except #3 with 50mm Summicron

A large group of women have gathered by the gate that borders the Pichola Lake. It creates a patchwork of bright colors, such a lovely sight. Yet, it is apparently a local ritual that is part of a funeral ceremony. No black, death seems to be cheered here. Be it for the first time that they witness it, or the last, the tradition will keep well alive.  (click on pictures for high res) Shots 1,2,6 with Leica M9 and 35mm Lux Asph. 3,4,5 with 50mm Summicron

Morning or evenings, it is amazing to see the number of people that head to the shores of the lake for their daily bath. Most will also take advantage of the opportunity to wash their clothes and let them dry in the sun. (click on pictures for high res) Note that the Palace in the background of the first shot was used as setting for the James Bond "Octopussy" movie. All pictures with Leica M9 and 35mm Lux Asph, except for last one with 50mm Summicron.
