The main problem when using a 24mm lens is that you need to get very close for your subject to take up a significant portion of your frame. In the shot below, I was at about 1.2 meters from this girl and still, getting even closer would have been better. Being already four months old, it was time for me to take Yanidel Junior on a street outing. Still too young to grab his own camera but you'll notice that the little one already has the eyes of a street hunter. Paris here we come! Biggest challenge so far : not dropping the camera on my son's head. Picture courtesy of my wife Natalia, taken with an Iphone 3GS

Though I guess that finding a good match after a certain age must become a little bit more difficult.  (click on picture for high res) Today I headed to the city center of my small town. I took the opportunity to take out my 24mm Elmarit which I had not taken to Argentina. It is probably going back with me this time. Leica M9 with 24mm Elmarit at F5.6, 1/1000, ISO160

When in Argentina, it makes me smile to sometimes see horses pulling carts in large cities, a scene long forgotten in Europe. So imagine my surprise this afternoon when I witnessed these scene in my tiny hometown in Switzerland. While there most probably wasn't any rye for the horses like in the stage coaches times, the riders did get some ref(ue)illing. Also, you might have noticed the unusual processing of this picture. I am currently testing DxO Filmpack which provides some great presets to modify the rendering of your pictures. My end goal is obviously not to replicate the film...

I am almost 2 meters tall so evidently it makes it a bit much more difficult to remain unspotted when shooting. Yet at the same time, I also wonder how many people would have shout at me if I was 30 cm smaller. (click on picture for high res) Leica M9 with 50mm Summicron at F2.0, 1/1000, ISO160
