This blog allowed me to get in contact with many fellow photographers over the last years, yet it mostly remained "electronic" correspondance. Therefore as our trip leads us to many places in the world, I believe it is a great opportunity to meet some of you and why not, spend some hours shooting in the streets. For those willing to participate, I also ask them to answer three short questions in order to know a bit more about them, their work and any recommendations on where to shoot in their city. Daniel is the first one to participate, thanks for...

Madrid's downtown is still invaded by thousands protesters. They have built a camping and organzied themselves as a little town. The government is scared to intervene since elections are coming up this weekend. What are these protesters asking for ? Basically, a true democracy and a less corrupt political class. Yet sorry, I am not a reporter. I always find it difficult to perform street photography in a public event. Indeed, I like to document instants of life, and they should be in my opinion unconnected. I like to invent stories, not depict a reality. And so it should be,...

Madrid is dear to me since I spent five years of my life here. Years of big fun, enjoying the famous "marcha madrileña" (Madrid-style party). So when we got in the city, first thing to do was head to a bar and have few tapas (starters and appetizers) as well as a couple of cañas (beers). Leica M9 with 50mm Cron at F2.0, 1/60, ISO800

Whenever I travel outside of Switzerland, I am always amazed by the number of people that promptly associate Heidi and Switzerland. I wonder how many of them would actually expect to see young kids playing around chalets located in some remote Alp valley. There are still a few Heidi and Peter out there, yet Switzerland evolved into a modern, cosmopolite and multi-ethnic society.  And luckily, the latest songs have certainly replaced the horrendous "Yodel". I am sure that Heidi would have loved it.  (click on picture to enlarge) Leica M9 with 50mm Summicron at F8.0, 1/500, ISO160

After 5 months in "young" Argentina, Switzerland and its own medieval towns form quite a different surrounding for street shots. And while the cityscapes haven't changed much for centuries, we are obviously no longer in times of Knights and Princesses.    (click on picture to enlarge) Leica M9 with 35mm Lux Asph at F8.0, 1/250, ISO160
