In the land of the Sikhs

We arrived today in Amritsar, the spiritual center of the Sikh religion. Sikhs can be found all over India and are easily recognizable due to their large and colorful turban. Yet in the streets of Amritsar, they are a large majority as the city and its famous Golden temple is visited by around 100'000 worshippers a day.

As for the meaning of the color of their turbans, I read that orange means wisdom and courage. Or maybe it is just a personal preference … to match the colors of the fruits.  (click on picture for high res)
