Nimbin, the drug capital of Australia

Lost in the middle of a inland valley stands the tiny village of Nimbin. A huge hippie festival took place there back in 1973 and in an outsurge of peace and love, many participants decided to remain there and form this hippie community. Though not legal, you can easily buy cannabis there (it took me a while to understand why everybody asked me if I wanted to buy “cookies”…) as police has kind of given up the fight to enforce law. And if the subject of drugs really interests you, you will surely visit the Hemp Museum. Though you can’t smoke cannabis with your coffee anymore, you’ll be able to educate yourself on the subject of drugs.  (click on pictures for high res)
